"DRI" line
Alco S3 might be mistaken for an S4; the large radiator
transplant was the result of wreck damage repair. The
small stack gives away the non-turbo diesel. |

One of two
Texas Company (Texaco) S3 switchers, number 22 stands
with it's front door wide open, whiles away a sunny
Saturday morning on a dead end siding just off the BNSF
yard tracks in Burlington. S3's 21 and 22 were built in
1951 and 1952 and were the only S3's purchased by
Texaco. I wasn't able to tell if this engine was still
operational, but it looks like it has seen better days. |

Wearing the
old paint job from the days of affiliation with B&M,
this old goat is by what looks like the sand house. In
those days we didn't pay attention to such details,
click, click, a friendly wave and a hearty Hy Yo Silver
and we were off to the next great place for roster
shots. |
